PLM high shear mixers are a type of industrial mixing equipment that is used to blend, disperse, emulsify, or homogenise materials in a variety of sectors including pharmaceuticals, food & beverage, cosmetics, chemicals, and others. It is intended to run at high speeds and generate significant mechanical forces in order to break down particles and create a homogenous mixture.

All types of viscous liquids and pastes can be dispersed, sheared, and homogenised. A stainless steel rotor and stator form the mixing head. When the rotor rotates at a high speed (about 3000 RPM), the stator remains stationary, resulting in strong shear forces.The mixer's work theory is similar to that of a batch high shear mixer in that the rotor and stator work together to provide strong shearing power during rapid running to achieve mixing, smashing, and emulsion.
